Our Dreamforce Journal
Dreamforce is the largest annual software conference in the world hosted by Salesforce in San Francisco, bringing together industry visionaries, product experts, Trailblazers and world-renowned speakers and leaders . This year over 171,000 Trailblazers from 91 countries and more than 10 million online viewers joined Salesforce at the conference. Two of those 171,000 were OMNI ISG’s Chief Operating Officer, Colin Clark and Chief Technology Officer, Ian Ralls. Here they give an insight into the scale of Dreamforce and their highlights of the week.
Sunday 5th November
How do you prep for a week of walking around Dreamforce? By running the Golden Gate Half Marathon of course!
After recovering from our light jog we thought it would be best to register for DF17 and plan our agenda for the week. With over 2700 sessions available this year, Salesforce have provided something for everyone and with the sessions running from 7:30am to 6:00pm, we have a long few days ahead of us!
Despite being spoilt for choice we are particularly looking forward to learning more around Salesforce’s plans with ISVs and Consulting Partners, Contact Centre Solutions, Service Cloud & Einstein (AI).
It is a small (Salesforce) world and we have already bumped into lots of contacts and look forward to meeting many more over the next few days.
Total Steps Combined: 65,000

Day 1 at Dreamforce did not disappoint, packed full of everything you expect – Innovation, Customer Success stories and a lot of walking!
So much knowledge gained from the keynotes and for our Customers, we’re really excited about myTrailhead. We will soon we will be able to create our own content in Trailhead, specific to our solutions – This will be a great asset to elevate our learning programme, Admin Hero, even further than its current success.
We also met some impressive ISVs with potential opportunities to collaborate and work with Einstein vision for image recognition within retailmotus.
Busy few days ahead!
Top tip for dinner in San Francisco, E&O – Asian fusion food, amongst the best in San Francisco in our humble opinion
Total Steps Combined: 30,000 (a lot of time in Keynotes!)
Tuesday 7th November
What a day! We got up early and were lucky enough to get a seat for the Michelle Obama and Marc Benioff fireside chat, it was a great insight into the life of the former First Lady and the causes that are close to her heart.
We are continuing to explore Einstein and understanding the role AI could play in helping us deliver sales and service success for our Customers.
Einstein enables AI without the need of a data scientist, meaning we can work with our Customers to explore specific user cases and deliver new insights within existing data sets. We have also been exploring Einstein chatbots for Service Cloud, helping Customers choose self-service options whilst leveraging Customer insights to drive the right outcomes.
Then what a better way to end a great day than go to Dreamfest at AT&T Park to watch Lenny Kravitz and Alicia Keys perform for all the Salesforce Trailblazers!
Total Steps Combined: 45,000
Wednesday 8th November
Numerous donuts, lots of ice cream, free drinks and awesome pizza! Just a few of the food based highlights from day 3 at Dreamforce, it’s a good job we walked 33,000 steps!
The AppExchange was in focus today – So many apps are available including components and community solutions. There are a number of free AppExchange apps that are ready to go as soon as you install including adoption dashboards. We’ve already got our Top 10 saved! Our key take out is to stay close to the AppExchange and new releases, there are solutions to solve all sorts of problems you didn’t even know you had!
With this being the final night of Dreamforce, we partied at the App bash and then ventured out to see what San Francisco had to offer!
Tomorrow is the last day of a brilliant Dreamforce and then we are homeward bound.
Total Steps Combined: 33,000
This year Dreamforce felt less about new Salesforce products and more about real depth in key areas of innovation such as Einstein. Dreamforce is a key milestone in the OMNI ISG calendar – it helps to shape our focus and direction for the coming months and provides a valuable insight in to not only the Salesforce roadmap but also the wider platform developments through ISV. This year’s conference was again, bigger and better than the last and overall it has provided us with a really good cross-section of things to pursue. With innovation to explore and build demos against, new cloud platform enhancements to assess and the ongoing building and strengthening of our relationships with ISV partners, we have an exciting 2018 ahead!
… and finally… no need to run any half marathons for a while!
